Presentation of the Shuijing Village Smart Low-Carbon Water-Saving “Three-in-One” Practice Project Results
Host: Dean Hsu Yong-He, College of Electrical and Computer Engineering, National Formosa University
Led by Dean Hsu Yong-He, the "Shuijing Village Smart Low-Carbon Water-Saving Three-in-One Practice Project" has achieved remarkable results in Shuijing Village, Kouhu Township, Yunlin County after nearly nine months. The project brought together a professional team of six cross-disciplinary faculty members and collaborated with the USR program of National Taiwan Ocean University, promoting community sustainable development through the integration of technology, education, and culture.
In field implementation, the team has established three smart aquaculture monitoring systems in Shuijing Village, effectively enhancing fishery production efficiency and environmental sustainability. Simultaneously, a fish-vegetable symbiosis and water-saving monitoring system has been set up on campus, providing a practical training platform for students and cultivating a new generation of sustainable agriculture and fisheries professionals. The project also encourages students to form the “Shanghu Cloud Team,” actively developing production and marketing platforms, and utilizing arbor AI technology to create Shuijing’s Three Treasures specialty products, demonstrating the innovative value of combining technology with local culture.
Dean Hsu emphasized that students should leverage their expertise in electrical and computer engineering to develop an integrated production monitoring solution for the aquaculture ponds in Shuijing Village, covering water quality and ecological monitoring as well as production-marketing platforms. Through technological craftsmanship, the project enhances local residents’ cultural recognition of Shuijing’s Three Treasures. This initiative not only promotes the “Production, Ecology, Life” three-in-one harmony model but also exemplifies the university’s social responsibility in local revitalization.
The implementation of this project reflects cross-disciplinary collaboration and the spirit of USR, opening new opportunities in smart aquaculture, water-saving technology, and cultural innovation, painting a vision of industrial innovation and cultural sustainability for Shuijing Village in Kouhu, Yunlin.
